About PRP Microneedling

Microneedling with PRP, or a “vampire facial”, is a cutting-edge treatment that takes this treatment to the next level and uses your body’s own healing properties to improve the appearance of your skin. Like with regular microneedling, a handheld device containing hundreds of tiny needles is used to create micro-punctures in the skin.

After the micro-punctures are made, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is injected into the treated tissue to “bathe” the cells and speed up the healing process. The PRP is obtained from drawing a small amount of your own blood, from which the plasma is then separated to concentrate healing properties.

PRP treatment involves using the patient’s own blood as a resource to isolate the platelets with a centrifuge. As the plasma is obtained directly from the patient, the risk of the body rejecting it or having an allergic reaction is low. The blood is separated into 3 layers, leaving the PRP available for use during microneedling. It contains proteins and growth factors that regulate and activate cell migration and stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Results

Downtime

There is no significant downtime to a vampire facial. During the first few days of healing, you may experience redness, dryness, and flaking of the skin. You may even notice slight bruising or several tiny blood spots that will disappear within 24-48 hours.

After your PRP microneedling treatment, do not use a chemical peel, wear makeup or spend time in the sun. This will allow your skin to heal completely. Good skincare and limited sun exposure are also recommended.
